Naked driver charged with DUI accident in Tennessee

According to authorities, a naked man was charged with multiple offenses after allegedly causing an accident on Highway 111 on Sept. 30. The incident happened around 11:40 a.m.

Officers with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office stated that they received numerous reports of a car driving erratically. Officers said that callers reported that a man had stopped the car and gotten out of it and that he was naked. Witnesses allege that the car was driving at high speeds and was changing lanes erratically.

Officers said that the man began driving north in the southbound lanes at speeds that witnesses claim were higher than 90 mph. One vehicle reportedly had to run off of the road to avoid a collision with the man’s vehicle. When another car tried to avoid the vehicle, police report that the man collided with that car. The collision caused the woman’s airbags to deploy, but she declined treatment. The man reportedly attempted to kiss a female deputy and told her he loved her. He also allegedly admitted to consuming LSD and said that God gave it to him.

People who drive while under the influence of drugs may be charged with DUIs. Driving under the influence of drugs carries similar penalties to drunk driving charges. People who are charged might want to consult with a criminal defense attorney who is experienced in handling drug DUI cases. Legal counsel might find issues with how the police conducted the stop or how the evidence was gathered. Defense attorneys may also be able to negotiate satisfactory pleas to lesser charges for their clients or to sentences that do not involve time in jail.
